Discuss our Mission Statement here
Current mission statement:
To inspire business leaders by delivering thought-provoking business and lifestyle content that encourages them to change, innovate, and succeed.

Re: Discuss our Mission Statement here
I believe this is a start
To inspirebusiness leaders by delivering thought-provoking business and lifestyle content that encourages them to change, innovate, and succeed.
I think business leaders should go - as our readers are much more than that, plus we need to think about the wording "change, innovate, and succeed"?

I like "grow innovate and succeed" but I also think we need to re work "business and lifestyle content" especially with the restructure of the magaizne

I actually think we are miles off with this. We are creating a platform for CEO's to deliver their message. The majority of our content comes from other people ie. profiles and advertisers or outsourced journalists. Let's not kid ourselves here and not shy away from this. We don't inspire anybody, it's the people within our magazine and that align with our brand that are inspiring. We are a gateway to the world for inspiring people to talk to and share with aspirational and like-minded people.

If our content comes from the CEOs, it's still OUR content. It's OUR magazine. Regardless of who is in it, WE are the brand. Without us, they wouldn't be in it. We need to remember it's our magazine, our mission statement.
You say 'we don't inspire anybody' - but that is wrong.
We do - as it's our magazine. Our readers. Our brand.
All of the above is good discussion but solutions are good. Based on what you said above, what do you recommend?
Re: Discuss our Mission Statement here
My question is what is the Mission Statement relating to? The CEO Magazine Brand or the business, or both? I look at it from a business perspective as well as from the brand point of view. The Business mission is to 'Profitably grow and globally expand through the creation of the inspirational business brand The CEO Magazine'. ?

Our business mission objective is different from The CEO Magazine's mission statement. We need to come up with the mission statement for what The CEO Magazine brand does
Re: Discuss our Mission Statement here
I am warming to this:
To inspire the world by delivering thought-provoking business and lifestyle content that encourages success.
To inspire the world by delivering thought-provoking business and lifestyle content that encourages success.
Re: Discuss our Mission Statement here
Just a thought, but should we somehow link this to the newly developed four cornerstones?

Re: Discuss our Mission Statement here
Really want to discuss this, but weirdly having difficulty putting all my thoughts into written words. I don't know why – this doesn't normally happen to me (Steve, Teddy and David can attest to that!), but I think there is SO much to discuss, trying to fit it into a couple of sentences just doesn't feel right... I can't quite get my head around it for some reason. Perhaps I'm overthinking it, although I don't think we can overthink this statement. It's hugely important. Not entirely sure this is the best forum for such a major discussion... But I'll keep mulling it over and will throw in my two cents (once I figure out what it is) for what it's worth.

Hello all. I really believe this should be a live brainstorming session, as Susan said it's difficult to put it into words, but a live chat will get the creative juices flowing. Thoughts?

Re: Discuss our Mission Statement here
Further to my comment shown directly above, reading through the thread clearly illustrates why we need a mission statement. Jeppo says we don't inspire anyone and it's our subjects that are the inspiration, however Dutts says that we create the content that is inspirational around the the subject which in their own right is inspiring - both very valid points.
With these two case in points, it really highlights a massive disconnect at LT level of who we are and what we do. This, in my opinion should be a discussion in an open forum so Jeppo (for example) can elaborate on his point of view which will spark dialogue for discussion which will ultimately lead to an outcome.
I like CC's idea of integrating the four cornerstones. Regarding Anna Dutton's comment of is it the brand of the business, I believe that a mission statement is designed to provide clear direction and purpose, and lead all those who contribute to the company's success, therefore, i think it should be about the brand, without the belief in it (from employees or clients) and what it stands for, we do not have a successful business.
I think we have a solid foundation here, but need to finesse the detail of it.
It's hard to put all my thoughts down in writing. It's also hard to articulate exactly what i mean and/or trying to say, and would really like to bounce ideas off others in a live chat.
